Firefighters Contain 1,800-Acre Blaze
From Times Staff Reports
A fire that started Saturday afternoon burned about 1,800 acres of brush near Pioneertown before being fully contained Sunday, officials said.
No major injuries or damage was reported, and authorities were still investigating the cause of the blaze, said California Department of Forestry spokesman Mark Streck.
More than 400 firefighters were dispatched to the blaze in western San Bernardino County, which officials called the first major incident of the fire season.
