Officer Who Is Sheriff’s Son Faces DUI Charge
Jeff Brooks, a Ventura police officer and son of Ventura County Sheriff Bob Brooks, was arrested late Monday on suspicion of drunk driving.
The 27-year-old Camarillo man was off duty when he was stopped by a Sheriff’s Department officer near Adolfo and Flynn roads in Camarillo, said department spokesman Eric Nishimoto.
Brooks was cited and released, Nishimoto said. His blood-alcohol level is unknown.
Ventura Police Sgt. Sean Conroy said Brooks will remain on duty pending an investigation.
“Ordinarily, an officer would not lose his job on a first DUI,” Conroy said.
