Motorist Killed in Crash With Big Rig
A 57-year-old Lancaster man was killed Tuesday when he lost control of his car during a coughing fit and slammed into a big rig in Lancaster, authorities said.
The accident at California 138 and 60th Street West occurred just before 6 a.m., California Highway Patrol Officer Becky Lynch said.
As the driver lost control of the vehicle, a passenger in the front seat tried to grab the wheel and regain control of the car. The car swerved, hitting the oncoming truck, Lynch said.
The driver, whose name was not released pending notification of family, died at the scene. The passengers were treated for minor injuries.
