Attorney Wins in 2nd Bid for Council Seat
Dennis Carroll, an attorney and Juvenile Court referee, defeated incumbent H. Delano Roosevelt in the Long Beach City Council’s 4th District race.
The runoff contest Tuesday was Carroll’s second attempt to unseat the grandson of President Franklin Delano Roosevelt. Carroll got 1,871 votes to Roosevelt’s 1,732.
In the 6th District race, Laura Richardson-Batts, a marketing representative and wife of the city’s deputy police chief, won a 19-vote victory over Dee Andrews, a former teacher.
