Police Seek Driver Who Hit Teenager, Left Scene
SAN PEDRO — Police were looking for a hit-and-run driver who hit a teenage pedestrian Tuesday night while apparently trying to avoid a fireworks display in the middle of a street.
The driver, who witnesses said was blasting loud music from her car, was driving on O’Farrell Street near Centre Street at 9 p.m. when she hit the 17-year-old boy, said Los Angeles Police spokesman Jason Lee.
The boy was treated for arm injuries and released from a hospital later that night.
The driver of a 1990 or 1991 white Honda Civic was apparently trying to avoid a small group of people who were illegally lighting fireworks in the street, police said.
