LAGUNA BEACH
Historical documents at the library are about to move from disarray to systematic organization.
Dennis McGuire, branch manager of the West Garden Grove Library and a professional archivist, has volunteered his services to the Laguna Beach branch of the county’s library system.
McGuire will review documents this month and recommend improvements for the unorganized files.
The collection has been in the library since the early 1980s, when the Laguna Beach Historical Society, the library and the Friends of the Library started stocking the Local History Room with documents, books and photos.
The library boasts local papers on microfiche from about 1914 through the 1970s, pictures, oral and video histories of early residents, and stories and pictures from victims of the 1993 fires.
