County Continues to Sizzle as Simi Sets Record at 92
For a third consecutive day there was record-breaking heat in Ventura County on Sunday, according to the National Weather Service.
The mercury rose to 92 degrees in Simi Valley, breaking a record of 90 set in 1980, said federal meteorologist Jonathan Slemmer.
Oxnard had set daytime heat records, with temperatures in the high 80s, on Friday and Saturday.
It was 91 degrees in Ojai, 89 in Thousand Oaks and 78 in Ventura on Sunday. Temperatures are expected to drop today with highs on the coast just above 70 degrees. It will be in the mid-80s inland.
Tuesday’s weather is expected be slightly cooler, with patchy morning fog both today and Tuesday.
“It will warm up more on Wednesday, and the general trend is a little bit warmer each day through Friday,” Slemmer said.
