Passenger Dies After Driver Hits Car, Wall
An angry confrontation between a man in a car and a convenience store clerk in Fullerton ended with an innocent passenger in the car dead Saturday morning, police said.
At 11:35 p.m. Friday, Orlando Paz, 39, of Fullerton drove up to a market on the 500 block of South Highland Avenue, Fullerton Police Sgt. Steve Johnson said.
Paz rammed his car into the clerk’s parked car as the clerk watched from inside the store. He then sped off down a nearby alley, which turned out to be a dead end, Johnson said.
“Apparently, the clerk and the driver had a previous confrontation,” Johnson said.
The car slammed into a block wall. A passenger in the car, identified as Teleforo Aguilar, 39, of Fullerton, was rushed to UCI Medical Center in Orange, where he died at 6:12 a.m., Johnson said.
Paz was booked on suspicion of felony drunk driving, vehicular manslaughter and a parole violation and is being held in lieu of $50,000 bail, Johnson said.
