N. Hollywood Man Killed in Hit-and-Run Accident
A 24-year-old North Hollywood man was struck and killed by a hit-and-run driver in Studio City on Wednesday morning, police said.
Trent Illig was sideswiped by an eastbound pickup truck about 2 a.m. as he was opening the door of his car, parked in front of the Apache bar, 11608 Ventura Blvd., said Los Angeles Police Officer Jason Hough.
Witnesses described the truck to police as a recent-model, blue Ford F-150.
Illig, who was thrown 30 feet in the air, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Hough said police are checking reports from some witnesses that the truck may have swerved across a lane before hitting Illig. The driver immediately left the scene, said Hough.
Police are asking anyone who may have seen the accident to call (818) 756-8381.
