A Mission Viejo High School student who police say assaulted two teachers who tried to break up a fight last week was charged Monday with two counts of felony assault. The 16-year-old boy, whose name has not been released because of his age, was charged with battery against a school employee and assault with a means likely to produce great bodily injury. He will be tried in Juvenile Court.

A teacher who witnessed a lunchtime brawl Thursday, in which the suspect allegedly kicked another student, told authorities he was pushed by the boy after trying to stop the fight. Police say the student then ran into a vacant classroom where another teacher kept the boy from escaping by blocking the door. Officers say the boy knocked both teachers to the ground after forcing himself through the door and the three toppled to the asphalt.
