Woman Hit by Car Last Month Dies
An 84-year-old Camarillo woman who was struck by a Jeep as she walked home from a grocery store last month has died from her injuries, Ventura County coroner’s officials said.
Ruth Mathisen died at Ventura County Medical Center on Thursday, authorities said.
Mathisen had been in critical condition since she was struck March 5 as she walked in the area of Arneill Road and Ponderosa Drive. A bystander told authorities Mathisen appeared to be walking in a crosswalk when the accident happened, though her body was found about 25 feet from the crosswalk.
Mathisen suffered broken legs, a broken arm and internal injuries, authorities said.
The collision has been ruled an accident, and no charges are pending against the Jeep’s driver, authorities said.
