A Tustin High School senior pleaded not guilty Monday to 95 vandalism counts stemming from a spree that began as a prank and ended with a damage tab in the thousands of dollars. Victor Sarvis, 18, and three other Tustin High School students, all minors whose names have been withheld because of their ages and who face charges in Juvenile Court, are charged with one count each of felony conspiracy to commit vandalism and felony vandalism and 93 misdemeanor vandalism counts.

If convicted on all counts, Sarvis would face nearly five years in prison. The juveniles would face a comparable sentence in the California Youth Authority.

Police said the youths started out by knocking over mailboxes and portable toilets, then began smashing car and home windows. The crimes were committed across the county--in Orange, Tustin, Villa Park, Dana Point, Santa Ana and Mission Viejo. The students are also suspected of overturning four small vehicles in South County.

The four were arrested March 7 after residents called police and officers said they caught the youths in the act of pulling a mailbox out of the ground.
