Identification Cards Offered for Children

Children can get their own picture identification cards at Ventura County public health centers this week. The free cards show the child’s photograph, fingerprints and emergency and medical information.

County public health officials say the cards will help identify lost children and make it easier for police to contact parents. Parents will also receive a wallet card, “What to do if your child is missing.”

Parents should arrive at the health center between 1 and 4:30 p.m., and should bring a small photograph of the child’s face.

Representatives from the county public health department also will be available to talk about lead poisoning and about the Healthy Families plan for children up to age 18.

The cards will be available Monday at the Ventura Public Health Center, 3147 Loma Vista Road; Tuesday at the Santa Paula Public Health and Family Wellness Center, 620 W. Harvard Blvd.; Wednesday at the Simi Valley Public Health Center, 660 Los Angeles Ave.; and Thursday at the Oxnard Public Health Center, 2500 C St., Suite D.
