Council Awards Itself More Money for Expenses
PASADENA — The City Council this week increased the expense limit for the mayor from $120 to $500 per month and raised the council members’ cap from $120 to $300. It also for the first time approved child care as a reimbursable expense.
Council members approved the increases on a 6-1 vote, with Councilman Paul Little dissenting.
Little argued that elected officials do not need more money.
The council also increased monthly allowances for phone, cellular and Internet services from $100 to $300 for the mayor and from $100 to $150 for council members.
The council reduced the one-time allowance for computer equipment for newly elected officials from $7,000 to $5,000.
