Republicans
* The other factor in last Tuesday’s election is the scary feeling that the Republicans are leaning further to the right, whereas the Democrats increasingly appear to be the true moderates. Some of the positions that used to be considered what was called “Rockefeller Republicanism” (fiscally conservative, socially progressive) appear to be less common in that party, and the congressional members who fall in that category appear to be less valued than perhaps they should be by their own party.
