Bernice M. Mossman; Former County Resident
Former Ventura County resident Bernice M. Mossman died Monday in a Phoenix hospital. She was 93.
Mossman was born July 24, 1905, in Custer, Wash. She lived in Ojai and Ventura for many years before moving to Sun Lake, Ariz., in 1978.
Mossman enjoyed golf and was past president of several women’s golf associations. She volunteered at Ventura hospitals and for a sheriff’s posse in Sun Lakes. She was an avid Chicago Cubs fan and was known for her patriotism.
She also enjoyed traveling each summer.
Her husband, Robert, died in 1987.
She is survived by her son, Prentice Lee Jessup; her sister, Allene Lippert; seven grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Ted Mayr Funeral Home in Ventura, with Jack Morrison officiating. Burial will follow at Ivy Lawn Memorial Park in Ventura.
Memorial contributions can be made to the Ventura County chapter of the American Cancer Society in Ventura.
