Police Seek Leads in Apparent Kidnapping
Police are seeking the public’s help in finding a 17-month-old boy whom they believe was kidnapped by a former friend of his mother.
Lorenzo Lamar Duncan, the boy, was at home with his grandmother, Gail Smith, Thursday about 10 a.m., when a friend of the boy’s mother showed up at the house at 1448 W. 54th St., said Det. Matthew Mahoney.
The grandmother recognized Chryshendall Nickerson as a friend of her daughter’s, he said.
Nickerson offered to take the boy to have his picture taken, and the grandmother agreed, Mahoney said. Smith expected the two to return by 2 p.m., he said.
When the mother, Gail Renee Dotson, 20, got home about 4 p.m., Nickerson had not returned.
She and Dotson, it turned out, had not been on speaking terms since May, Mahoney said, and police believe the boy was kidnapped.
Anyone with information concerning the boy or Nickerson’s whereabouts is asked to call Mahoney or Det. Tom Skorda at (213) 485-4175.
