Multi-Car Collision Kills Palmdale Woman
LANCASTER — A 19-year-old Palmdale woman was killed in a traffic collision Thursday morning after running a red light at a Lancaster intersection, authorities said.
Ilene Macias was driving a Honda Civic south on 30th Street East when she ran a red light at Avenue K about 10:25 a.m. said Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Lt. Steve Fredericks. Macias’ Honda collided with a westbound Plymouth Voyager driven by Gloria Wilson, 54, of Palmdale.
The minivan then careened into a Nissan pickup truck and a Nissan Sentra, both of which were traveling east on Avenue K.
Macias was ejected from her car and pronounced dead at the scene, Fredericks said. The two occupants of the Nissan pickup truck suffered minor injuries and were taken to Antelope Valley Hospital, authorities said.
A male passenger in the Honda suffered head injuries and was airlifted to Providence Holy Cross Medical Center in Mission Hills, Fredericks said. His condition and identity were unavailable, and sheriff’s deputies said they had yet to identify the male Thursday night.
Wilson was not injured.
