2 Girls Hit by Fleeing Motorist
Two 9-year-old girls were on life support Wednesday after they were struck by a motorist being chased by CHP officers in a residential area of Lakeside, east of San Diego. Above, authorities examine the driver’s truck in a ditch where it came to rest after hitting the girls, who were walking home from school. Below, Carol Gonzales, mother of one of the fourth-graders, is comforted by friends. A CHP spokesman said the driver, who had minor injuries, was being pursued for a traffic violation.
