$500,000 in Stolen Goods Returned to Eddie Bauer
More than $500,000 worth of stolen Eddie Bauer products was returned to the company Wednesday after Westminster police and FBI agents raided a Laguna Hills warehouse used to fence the goods in Orange County.
Two men were ordered held without bail in federal court Wednesday on charges of receiving the stolen goods, which were taken from an Eddie Bauer facility in Denver last month.
Detective Tommy Rackleff said investigators believe the two--An Tung Doan, 24, of Fountain Valley, and My Trung Nguyen, 25, of Santa Ana--are involved in a much larger criminal organization that participates in large-scale hijackings and other commercial thefts.
The name-brand products, valued at $500,000 to $1 million, were found in the warehouse, all of them belonging to the Redmond, Wash.-based retailer. Westminster police discovered the products being fenced on the street in Westminster’s Little Saigon about two weeks ago and traced the goods to the M&M; Computer Products warehouse on Del Lago Drive in Laguna Hills.
Investigators recovered “everything from socks and clothes to smoked salmon,” said Westminster Police Det. Marcus Frank. “The only thing we didn’t find was a Ford Explorer, basically. They [Eddie Bauer] put their name on a lot of different stuff.”
The owner of M&M; Computer Products was renting out part of his facility, but does not appear to be aware of the alleged criminal activity carried out by his tenants, Frank said.
