STANTON
The City Council unanimously elected Harry M. Dotson as mayor and Alexander Ethans as mayor pro tem at its Tuesday meeting. But before passing the gavel to Dotson, former Mayor David Shawver, who will remain on the five-member council, thanked the city and its citizenry: “It was probably the best time in the last 30 years to be mayor of Stanton,” he said.
In a “Year in Review” presentation, the council pointed out that crime has dropped about 60% since 1990 and that 100 businesses have opened in Stanton. The City Council plans to continue revitalization projects, such as the 85-unit townhome development on Katella Avenue, and partnerships with the business community.
