LAGUNA NIGUEL
The Planning Commission on Tuesday voted down a 50-foot-high pole sign for the new Mission Imports dealership on Star Drive. The sign, which would be 25 feet higher than the existing monument sign, could still be approved by the City Council at its Dec. 15 meeting.
The commission cited possible conflicts with the Gateway Specific Plan for the commercial corridor along Interstate 5. The Gateway plan is designed to revitalize the 223.3 acres of potential commercial property on both sides of the San Joaquin Hills Transportation Corridor. The plan is available for review and public comment until Dec. 30. The commission will then hold a public hearing on the plan at its Jan. 12 meeting. Information: (949) 362-4300.
