Regina Kleefisch; Worked at Wright Library

Regina “Reggie” Kleefisch, a retired library assistant, died Thursday at her home in Ventura after a lengthy illness. She was 74.

Kleefisch was born Sept. 7, 1922, in Sheboygan, Wis. She was a 38-year county resident, and during the 1980s she worked at the H.P. Wright Library in Ventura. She was a parishioner at Our Lady of the Assumption Church in Ventura.

Until a year ago, Kleefisch worked out at The Gym in Ventura, said her 16-year-old grandson, Aaron Kleefisch of Ventura. “She liked to read. She was really caring,” said the Buena High School varsity running back. “She always wrote me letters showing that she cared a lot.”

She told her grandchildren that college was important, Aaron said.

Kleefisch is survived by her husband, Leo; a son, Robert, of Ventura; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Our Lady of the Assumption Church. Burial will follow at Santa Clara Cemetery in Oxnard.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Joseph P. Reardon Funeral Home.
