2 Men Charged in Freeway Chase
VAN NUYS — Two burglary suspects who led police on a high-speed chase that ended when they crashed a Cadillac into an MTA bus were charged Monday with residential burglary and evading arrest, the Los Angeles district attorney’s office said.
Felix Valdez, 35, and Enrique Pedrosa, 42, are accused of burglarizing two apartments in the 18500 block of Hatteras Street on Thursday. Officers responding to a 911 call saw the men getting into their Cadillac and followed them onto the eastbound Ventura Freeway, police said. From there, the officers chased the men to Los Angeles, where they left the freeway and slammed into the bus at the intersection of 3rd Street and Virgil Avenue.
Police said a shotgun and six handguns were recovered from the Cadillac, including a loaded pistol on the front seat.
Valdez, who is being held on $285,000 bail and Pedrosa, who is being held on $120,000, will be arraigned this week in Van Nuys Municipal Court, officials said.
