Police Identify Fatal Shooting Victim
Police on Sunday identified a 37-year-old man who was shot and killed on a busy Toluca Lake street over the weekend.
The victim, Peter Maloney of North Hollywood, was walking in the 10400 block of Riverside Drive about 8:30 p.m. Friday when he was approached by a man on a yellow, 10-speed bike, police said.
After a brief exchange of words, the attacker shot Maloney, then rode off on his bicycle.
Robbery is the suspected motive for the killing, although nothing was taken, said Sgt. Tom Toutant of the Los Angeles Police Department’s North Hollywood Division. Maloney died at the scene.
The assailant is still being sought.
