FBI Releases Photos From 2 Bank Robberies

The Ventura County FBI office has released photographs taken during bank robberies in Thousand Oaks on Monday and in Westlake Village last week in hopes of identifying the bandit who is believed to have committed both robberies.

One photo, of a man wearing a baseball cap and dark sunglasses captured on film by a bank surveillance camera, was taken during the robbery of a branch of Great Western Bank, 3960 Thousand Oaks Blvd.

Witnesses to that robbery said the suspect is in his early 30s, 5 feet, 10 inches tall, weighs 165 pounds and has short dark hair.

The other photo, taken Dec. 31 during a robbery at a branch of Camarillo Community Bank in Westlake Village, shows a man with a receding hairline. The bank, at 32111 Agoura Road, is a few blocks over the county line in Los Angeles County.

Various witnesses to that robbery said the man is about 35 years old, 5 feet, 10 inches tall, weighs 160 pounds and has brown hair.

Despite the man’s attempt to alter his appearance, FBI officials say, the description witnesses provided is sufficiently similar to raise the possibility that the same man conducted both heists.

No gun was seen in either robbery, but in both instances the man passed a note to tellers warning that he had a gun.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Ventura FBI office at 642-3995 or their local police.
