Rogers New President of Local PBS Affiliate
The Coast Community College District Board of Trustees has named Melvin R. Rogers as president of KOCE-TV, a Public Broadcasting System affiliate that also broadcasts college courses.
Rogers, who worked for 13 years at a similar station in Provo, Utah, was selected as finalist by a committee of students, faculty, staff and administrators. He replaces William Furniss, who retired Dec. 31.
The new station president has won numerous broadcasting awards, including the Columbia Film and Video Award for social documentary and an administrative excellence award from Brigham Young University in Provo.
KOCE-TV, located on the Golden West College campus in Huntington Beach, holds its PBS status through a license held by the college district, which is based in Fountain Valley. The district governs Orange Coast College in Costa Mesa, Coastline Community College in Fountain Valley and Golden West.
