Ford Announces Second Recall in Less Than Two Weeks: The Dearborn, Mich.-based company said it is recalling 47,085 of its 1995 Crown Victoria and Grand Marquis cars that may have faulty rear-seat shoulder belts. In some of the models, the upper anchors of the belts may not meet federal standards because of improper fasteners made by a supplier, Ford said. If a fastener breaks in an accident, the belt assembly would remain attached but excessive slack could develop in the belt, the company said. Ford Motor Co. spokeswoman Francine Romine said the belt repair can be made in about an hour. Owners should contact their dealers for an appointment. On April 25, Ford announced the largest safety recall in industry history: 8.95 million 1988-93 cars and trucks to replace ignition switches that could cause fires.
