Alarm Diverts Jet From Burbank to Ontario
Associated Press
A 737 jetliner with 137 people aboard was diverted Saturday from Burbank Airport to Ontario International Airport when an emergency light on the craft indicated a possible steering problem.
Southwest Airlines Flight 578 from Las Vegas landed safely at 2:43 p.m. at Ontario, said Bonnie Hankins, superintendent of operations at the airport. Passengers and crew were bused to Burbank, where they had been scheduled to arrive about 2:30 p.m.
The jet was diverted when the alert light came on shortly before the plane was to land.
