New York Court Dismisses Bid to Stop Electric Cars: The Empire State can continue with its California-style plan to set stringent emissions standards for motor vehicles, including a requirement for electric cars, the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of New York ruled. Ford Motor Co., Chrysler Corp. and General Motors Co. had argued that the plan would force them to make special cars just for sale in New York. The auto makers have proposed one low-emission design for the California market and another for the other states.
