Woodland Hills : City OKs OASIS Program for Seniors
Senior citizens in the west San Fernando Valley will be able to take free classes in comedy, music, dance and other activities under a new program approved by the Los Angeles City Council.
The council unanimously voted Wednesday to spend $12,500 to establish an Older Adult Services and Information Systems program (OASIS) at the West Valley Occupation Center in Woodland Hills. OASIS programs are already operating in other parts of the city.
The program will be run, starting in January, by Jewish Family Services of Los Angeles Inc., a partner in the OASIS program.
According to city officials, the program will offer seniors free classes on health, piano, dance, current events, meditation, photography and yoga, among other topics.
