ANAHEIM : Suspect Wounded by Police
Police officers shot and wounded a burglary suspect Thursday in the 1200 block of North Brookhurst Street.
He was identified as Michael D. Armes, 30, a transient. He was shot in the leg just after 6 p.m. while climbing a fence to escape police, officers said.
Armes, a recent parolee, was treated at the scene and at a local hospital, according to Sgt. Steve Rodig. After being released from the hospital, Armes was arrested on suspicion of burglary, grand theft and parole violation, and was being held at the Anaheim City Jail.
After police were called to a residence on North Brookhurst by a neighbor, they chased Armes over a fence, a roof and through a yard, Rodig said. Police said Armes had confronted a resident in the yard and grabbed some of his property, before being shot while trying to climb another fence.
