MOORPARK : Condition of Fall Victim Now Critical
A 26-year-old Moorpark man who has been unconscious since he hit his head during a fall in a concrete drainage ditch last weekend remains hospitalized and has fallen into extremely critical condition, authorities said Friday.
Rafael Soto is in the intensive care ward of Simi Valley Hospital, where he was admitted Sunday with a severe head injury, hospital officials and police said.
Soto apparently hit the back of his head when he fell while trying to climb through the Arroyo Simi Flood Control Channel that cuts through Moorpark, Ventura County Sheriff’s Deputy Ernest Montagna said.
Soto was conscious but barely coherent when officers arrived at the scene, but later fell unconscious.
His condition worsened toward the end of the week.
