Hundreds Evacuated After Bomb Threat
Several hundred people were evacuated from the administration building at the Ventura County Government Center shortly before noon Tuesday after authorities received a bomb threat.
County Sheriff’s Lt. Gary Cook said a secretary in the sheriff’s office received a call about 11:45 a.m. from a person who claimed to have planted a bomb inside the building.
Sheriff’s officials, assisted by two dogs from the Point Mugu Naval Base, searched the building but found no explosives. County employees were allowed back in about two hours later.
Sheriff’s Department officials say their investigation is continuing.
