PALMDALE : Hearing Scheduled on Water Rate Plan
The Palmdale Water District, which provides water for the east side of Palmdale and surrounding unincorporated areas, has scheduled a Dec. 8 public hearing on a plan to raise its rates for the first time in two years.
The district’s five-member board of directors voted unanimously Tuesday night to set the rate-increase hearing. Directors said the increase may be about 10%, though district officials have yet to present any formal rate proposals to the board.
District Manager Hal Fones said a rate increase is needed to cover increases in costs during the past two years to offset district funding that was cut in the recent state budget battle, and to help cover upcoming costs of a $12-million project to upgrade the Littlerock Dam.
