San Diego : Navy Man Dies From Crash Injuries
A sailor who drove off the Coronado Bridge into Chicano Park earlier this week died Wednesday morning at University Hospital, officials said.
William Edward Wylie, 26, crewman on the miscellaneous command ship Coronado, died from injuries suffered in the crash, said a county medical examiner investigator. There was no evidence alcohol was involved, an investigator said.
National City police said Wylie was fleeing three patrol cars at speeds exceeding 100 m.p.h. about 2 a.m. Monday when he lost control of his Mazda while trying to get on the bridge. The car careened from a bridge on-ramp over a guardrail and landed upright in the park 150 feet below, officials said.
