MARINE PRIDE: Two years ago, the 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing at El Toro Marine Corps Air Station was one of the first units to be shipped to the Persian Gulf. Not one of its pilots was killed, and after Desert Storm, Gen. H. Norman Schwarzkopf singled it out for its outstanding service. . . . No wonder that at a celebration today, for its 50th anniversary, they’re rolling out a huge cake. The unit has grown in 50 years from one aircraft and 38 men to 16,000 enlisted men and officers and 300 aircraft.
