President-Elect Bill Clinton
As the election returns confirm the end of the Bush presidency it is apparent that we will continue to experience the inability of the Republicans to take responsibility for what has brought them to this event.
All we are hearing from Bush on down is how the media have cost them the election by negative and biased reporting. They continue to ignore the fact that no one other than George Bush is responsible for the failures to deal with the serious social and economic issues that have been building in this country. The media did not create these issues.
What the Republicans fail to admit is that all their attempts to disguise and deflect the existence and seriousness of these issues by their focus on “family values” and “Willie Horton” campaign tactics have been ignored by the electorate. Voters have shown that they demand that their President deal with issues, and not just moralize and criticize without offering some positive and constructive thoughts.
Bush has never shown any inclination to be anything more than the President of the right wing of the Republican Party.
