Boesky to Pay $50 Million to Settle Suit: Maxus Energy Corp. said former Wall Street kingpin Ivan F. Boesky agreed to pay $50 million to settle a lawsuit in an insider-trading case brought by the oil and gas company. Boesky was the sole remaining defendant in a $2.2-billion suit filed in 1987 by Maxus, formerly Diamond Shamrock. Kidder, Peabody & Co., a former defendant in the suit, settled with Maxus last month, agreeing to pay the Dallas-based company $125 million in cash and $40 million in five-year warrants to purchase common stock. Maxus said it expects to recover $15 million from Boesky, mainly from the division of assets of Boesky’s former marriage and his future earnings.
