RANCHO SANTA FE : Son Is Arrested in Murder Attempt
The 51-year-old son of a Rancho Santa Fe retiree was arrested Saturday night and charged with attempted murder in the bludgeoning of his 77-year-old father, the San Diego County Sheriff’s department said Sunday.
Charles Tremaine DeWoody was arrested at 6:15 p.m. at Lindbergh Field after flying to San Diego from Sacramento, sheriff’s spokeswoman Lt. Linda Fulton said.
His father, Charles DeWoody, a retired lawyer from Philadelphia, was severely beaten at his home Aug. 31. He was transported by Life Flight to Scripps Memorial Hospital, where he has not regained consciousness. He suffered major head injuries during the beating.
The son, of Nevada City, Calif., was being held without bail.
