An Injustice to Students

It was criminal. It made me want to cry for my fellow men.

Driving along Nordhoff in Northridge about 3:30 in the afternoon, I saw tow truck drivers and parking enforcement police gather, schmoozing and laughing and having a great old time as they waited to pounce on parked cars.

In school buildings, college students were fighting for their educational lives. Some had been at school since 8 in the morning, waiting for classes to open. Many had to sit on the hard floors for hours.

Many knew that they’d be ticketed and even have their cars towed away, but the choice was clear: Pay the fine or lose your place in line to register for the needed class.

I have no kids in the school system. I have no ax to grind. But it made me want to cry.
