Council Spends Citizens’ Taxes to Silence Them
The Aug. 28 article concerning the conduct of the Irvine City Council has piqued my interest as a taxpaying resident of Irvine. First, the City Council denies its citizens the right to petition and partake in the referendum process by suing a group opposed to the Irvine Co.’s 2,885-home project.
Next, the expenditure in excess of $90,000 to perpetuate this lawsuit is not to be mentioned on the agenda of the City Council because “none of the council members wants it on the agenda for further discussion.”
As a city manager, Mr. (Paul O.) Brady has the responsibility to act on behalf of the citizens of Irvine.
It would appear that both Mr. Brady and the City Council would very much like the matter to remain hidden.
