Council Spends Citizens’ Taxes to Silence Them
I read the article concerning the city of Irvine and its lawsuit against Irvine Citizens Against Overdevelopment and found a number of facts quite interesting. Nothing, however, caught my attention more clearly than the city’s blatant disregard for the voice of the citizens.
As a citizen of Irvine, it appalls me that the City Council has given no explanation on why it has wasted $90,000 on a court case the city itself initiated. It is bad enough that the city has brought about this court case, but the fact that the case is against the city’s own citizens for exercising their rights as citizens is an insult.
The city has just wasted $90,000 and has refused to discuss this matter before the residents. Tell the Irvine Co. to buy a majority vote on another city council.
