FILLMORE : Longtime Volunteer to Be Fire Captain
A Fillmore man who has served in the city’s volunteer Fire Department for 11 years will soon be paid for his work.
Aldolfo Huerta, 38, was selected Thursday by Fire Chief Pat Askren to become the department’s first full-time, employed captain at $29,316. The City Council is expected to approve Askren’s choice at Tuesday’s council meeting.
Askren has been the only paid employee in the 20-firefighter department. But the council recently authorized him to hire a captain to assist in his duties.
