PLATFORM : Misplaced Blame

The American media demonstrated unfair and indifferent reaction to what’s happened here. They reported (the disturbances) as if they were caused by previously existing conflicts between blacks and Koreans. Any blame should be placed on the American social and justice system.

Many Korean merchants happened to own businesses in certain sites of looting and arson. In my opinion, the black/Korean relationship had nothing to do with all the destruction and violence. Yet the press pushed the public to believe that Koreans became targets because they did not get along with blacks. The negative portrait of Korean-Americans--especially those in Koreatown--continued for days.

I deeply regret that I had to experience not only tremendous financial loss but, more important, the sadness and hopelessness of everything that’s happened. However, I still have hope that we can achieve harmony and peace.
