Bail Quadrupled for Father Charged in Shooting of Girl, 4
SANTA ANA — A judge quadrupled the bail Friday for a Santa Ana man who reportedly shot his 4-year-old daughter in the head accidentally while unloading a gun.
At the request of prosecutors, Municipal Judge Richard Stanford Jr. on Friday increased bail for Bartolo Quintana, 29, to $100,000. Quintana was charged Wednesday with a felony charge of child endangerment. The shooting occurred last weekend at Quintana’s home in the 2600 block of West McFadden Avenue.
Bullet fragments hit Flerida Quintana in the forehead as she slept with her mother. The girl underwent surgery on May 9, but she apparently did not suffer brain damage.
Bartolo Quintana was arrested by police on Monday, who located him at the Long Beach home of relatives. He had already fled the house when police arrived.
