KING CASE AFTERMATH: READERS RESPOND : What If White Were Beaten?
Instead of a black motorist and four white officers, suppose it was one white motorist and four black officers. And suppose those black officers were beating an accountant and Sunday school teacher, married with three children and a Simi Valley Republican.
Do you really believe that those honorable, lily-white--or almost so--jurors would have been in such strong agreement that those officers were innocent? On the contrary, all those officers would have been sent to jail in no time.
Those jurors, regardless of their level of racial tolerance, performed an excellent job as far as history is concerned. They showed that racism is well, alive and kicking in Simi Valley. I tip my hat to those jurors!!
