Reforming Workers’ Comp
The Times was right on the mark with its death sentence for the “Workers’ Compensation Monster” whose strong arms are strangling this state’s economy.
Workers’ compensation in this state is an embarrassment and I am embarrassed that a handful of physicians are part of the problem. It is outrageous that a small number of dishonest lawyers and doctors can destroy the system--causing business costs to skyrocket and jeopardizing health benefits for people with legitimate work-related injuries and illness.
The California Medical Assn. is vigorously supporting state legislation to crack down on fraud and abuse in addition to other desperately needed reforms. We are hopeful that the efforts of The Times and other media on this issue will bring us closer to that goal.
