A Simi Valley waste processor has pleaded no contest to charges of illegally transporting used photographic fluids and storing them in his home, Dist. Atty. Michael D. Bradbury reported Monday.

Gregory D. Martin, owner of G & L Silver Recovery, was ordered by Municipal Judge Herbert C. Curtis III to pay a $10,000 fine and placed on three years probation, Bradbury said in a prepared release.

Martin, 35, treated and stored waste containing hazardous levels of silver in his garage, authorities said.

Investigators found no evidence that Martin unlawfully disposed of the waste after extracting the silver.

Authorities said Martin, after being notified that his business practices violated state law, began working with a certified hazardous waste transporter and notified customers that the waste would be handled as a regulated material.
