HUNGRY VALLEY : Missing Motorcyclist Found After 1 Night
A Newbury Park man who failed to return from a weekend motorcycle ride into rugged backcountry in the northern county was found Monday suffering from exhaustion and minor hypothermia but otherwise uninjured, officials said.
Peter A. Derrico, 30, was located in Hungry Valley State Vehicular Recreation Area at 9 a.m. Monday by sheriff’s deputies.
Temperatures the night before dipped to the low to mid-30s, officials said.
Derrico left Newbury Park at 9 a.m. Sunday, and had been expected home about 6 that night. Sheriff’s deputies said they did not know why Derrico failed to return Sunday night.
Deputies from Fillmore, Ojai and the Lockwood Valley and state park rangers assisted in the search.
